| Post subject: Melbourne Cup - The race that stops a nation |
It's nearly here again, and this year is shaping up as very open.
It's a public holiday in Victoria, so it should be here as well.
As usual, we'll be showing it at Big Bamboo, Nanyang Lu. Up on level 2.
Tuesday 3rd of November.
Race is at about midday, so knock off early for a loooong lunch.
You will be able to get a bet on too
25rmb beers (VB, Crown, Pure Blonde) up until 2pm and then normal happy hour price. 30rmb wines, and a quick food selection.

It's shaping up to be a ripper race. Viewed and Master O'Reilly ran rippers on the weekend. I've changed my tip to Shocking.
See you at the Boo (level 2, nanyang lu) tomorrow. I'll be there from about 10.30am, the race is at midday, we should all be ripped by then. |

Will try to get there early. I'm praying to Buddha that when the tile people say they'll deliver at 9am, they actually DELIVER AT 9AM!
None of the deliveries we had to the new apartment have been on time yet. NONE of them! |

you'll be able to get a bet on at the boo also.
Race is at midday. Scratching this morning, and the trainers not happy.
Giddyup.
PS - If anyone has any Aussie staff, expect them to do the honourable thing and "Chuck a sickie" today. |

Since I've been in Shanghai [post 2004] every Cup Day has ended in tears for me. Broke my hand with Fiddler in '07. Split the shite out of my suit pants trying to kick start my moto outside Senses in '06. The list continues.... |

Totally Hypothetical but real to mates.
The win of Shocking in the Melbourne Cup (3,200m) at Flemington today is the sweetest form of redemption for two men that have experienced the cruellest twists of fate that racing can muster.
*** A predictive bet without cash up front is that, a merely predictive bet.
A Punter who wishes to bet on the outcome of an event usually requires the wager to be paid in full prior to the event, and the success or failure of that race event determines the outcome.
Mat, I put a hundred kuai through you on the nag, before the race - hope you honoured me, way out in Suzhou.
Mate and Mate. I'll pay. I'll come over to Shanghai to celebrate.
I won with your advice !
Time of web post is critical.
It's just for fun, betting wiith no money is fine here.
Sigh. I suppose I'll have to go to Shanghai <again>.
Let's see.
{Dishonest, I didn't put 100 kuai into his account before the race.}
And you ? |
