Post subject: Looking for intensive chinese course beginner level - Pudong

After three years of life in Shanghai, figure it's time to learn some more language. I can speak a little survival chinese but would like to significantly upgrade my communication skills. If you are an EXPAT reading this and have DONE similiar drop me a line if you have a recommendation.

Ideally looking for
- an intensive 3-5 week course
- 2-3 hours per day during work hours (mornings prefered)
- a little flexability to reschedule due to meeting commitments that must be kept (say 4 reschedules after that charge me)
- logistically Luizajui area of Pudong is preferred
- prefer to come to you.
- can be in a small class setting, or 1-1 if the price is right.
- would like to start within two weeks and finish by Christmas.

Best way to contact for now, is via message system on this site.

Post subject: Recommending my Mandarin teacher in Pudong

Hi. I also live in Pudong and have started an intensive Mandarin lessons 3 weeks ago, 2 hohurs per day from Mon. to Thu in the afternoon. My teacher, Vicky, is a still university student (4th year), but I was very amazed with her teaching skill and therefore decided to recommend you as she also looks for teaching job in the morning. She is of course flexible, and Luizajui is fine, but she would prefer to come to your place. In the last 3 weeks I learned so much already and am very happy with my progress. This is my 4th foreign language, so I know how to learn and how important a teacher is and I can truely recommend her despite her age. She has already much teaching experience with many nationalities such as German, Spanish and French people and Japanese (me!)
If you are interested, please contact Vicky at 15921514878.
Thanks and good luck with your learning!

Thanks for the information and recommendation. I am not versed in the rates for private instruction/one-on-one, can you share with me the going rate per hour charged by a university student.
Thanks
Ken

Hi, my name is Esty. I am local Shanghainese. I used to study in the UK for 3 years, thus, I have no problem in English speaking. I just finished a professional training course in "Teaching Chinese as second language"last month. Right now, I teach in a Chinese language school once a week for free in order to practice my teaching skill. If you are interested, I could also offer totally free lessons. My time also matches your requirement.

I have a car and I also live in Pudong. If you prefer to come to my place, I could offer free transport.

If you are still interested, please contact me at estyshacn@hotmail.com or 13585919788

Hi all, thanks for the recommendations received on my earlier post for an intensive mandarin course. Now I need language partner. I am in Pudong, but spend many hours (4-6) in Songhu Lu area (near Fudan Library)on Saturday and Sunday.

(Lily, Mark and Esty) I am available weekdays from is 1-3pm Luijazui area. Or on Saturday/Sunday, can meet in Luijazui area to travel with me to Songhu Lu/Fudan area on weekends. If you are in Fudan area can meet there. Looking for exchange partner or an inexpensive tutor at this time.

I am Canadian, current level is beginner. Let's compare schedules. I am open to more than one exchange partner depending on your location and day(s) available.
