| Post subject: GP thinks I will need an operation? |
After having gradually worsening vision for several years, I saw my GP who said I had a cataract, and he has referred me to a specialist. The GP thinks I will need an operation. Is this the best treatment for a cataract?

In a word, yes. Do as your GP says and see the consultant. The operation is very very minor, takes about an hour and is usually done with a local anaesthetic. |

Both my parents have ha cataract operations and have been so delighted with the result they have returned a few months later to have the other eye 'done'. This was in the UK. Good luck. |

You should go see an ophthalmologist... GP's are for general health issues... You should "see" someone who specializes in eyes... |
