I'm in the market to buy an actual real Iphone 3GS.

so.......Where would be the best place to look to find one? And about what price should I expect to pay? I'm trying to avoid all dark alleys however. But if need be, I'll still go down one.

The licensed dealer on Nanjing west road near peoples square is selling them for 5000rmb. I'm looking to buy one in the near future but will see if I can get it through HK. I heard the iphones sold up here don't have wifi and HK is generally cheaper for that kind of stuff.

Only phones that are officially sold in China don't have Wi-Fi, if you are buying an iPhone that is imported it definitely will have it. I think China Unicom are the only provider officially selling the iPhone so if you get it anywhere else, it will be a grey import.

buy hongkong factory unlocked version of iPhone. it's the most wanted iPhone.
you can check stores in xujiahui or railway station.
price for hongkong factory unlocked 3gs 16gb is around 5000rmb, 32gb is around 6000rmb.
if you have lighter hair color and/or blue eyes, they will try to fool you.
make sure that you check serial numbers and IMEI numbers in the iPhone settings and on the box and sim card slot. if it's real hongkong version. etc etc
