Post subject: Can 900/1800 MHz GSM Phone Work in USA?

Need help from technical gurus: I'm considering buying a Motorola GSM phone that's 900/1800 MHz and would like to know if it can work in the US as either roaming or buying a SIM card.

I know I can buy tri-band phone (900/1800/1900) but I really like this particular Motorola model (A768).

900/1800 mhz phones will not work in the States. US operators run on the 850/1900 bands. you will need to buy a phone that supports at least 1900 and maybe 850 as well.

FYI, T-Mobile runs on 1900; Cingular is 850 and 1900; some other providers are 850 only but i dont know which.

Sadly, you must buy a triband phone. Dual band asian phones should work in Europe too, but not in the US.
