I hope you are happy with your new web host from your virtuous America Urgent. I wonder if Enron or Halliburton will come to China. I can't wait.
But we don't have to wait. The richest man on earth is here. Phew. I was worried there for a minute. Now we don't have to worry about competition. No, we don't have to worry about anything. M.S.N. is here with Bill Gates. Let's all jump together.

Hello every one,

I am back home now and my parents 512K/s in Paris, France
seem to be faster than my old 2M/s in Shanghai.
I could download a file on a ftp server which was impossible in Sh...

If you want understand what happend in the route PB the your loved web pages use:
NeoTrace (v2.35)
like suggested by somebody else,
it is beter than visualroute!!!

Any way it is good to be home even if it is quiet.

Bye.

Post subject: Shanghai has a bad China Telecom Service

Since two days the problem is bigger also a simple trace to online.sh.cn take up to 1200ms this is incredible and the incredible is the China Telecom that only tell to my traslator that they have report to the upper Boss in Beijing but untill now they don't solve this congestion problem that they have in Shanghai and in Beijing topward to US. I stay in others many cities like Qingdao, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Jinan, and Canton and there aren't the same problem I also trace and save the Ningbo and godaddy.com work very nice also others website works nice. Now I have move all my email to others server that look like to work. You can use it for the first 30 days without pay and if is ok you will pay for the service. I hope that China Telecom solve the problem and the problem isn't that the company outside China don't want collaborate with China because there are Fraud but the problem is that China telecom active a lot of ADSL connection every day without expand the adsl backbone so now they have a big problem of congestion and if they don't solve this problem in few month we don't see any website because will be too slow to surf the network.

Post subject: Cable modem or adsl???

Cable Modem or ADSL?? The problem is that you can't decide what do you prefer if in your area there are a cable modem they give it and if in your area there are the ADSL they give the adsl to you. But I think that both has the same congestion problem. We hope that China Telecom solve this problem as when i call everytime they tell me that nobody complain I this that is impossible because or the chinese is complitly stupid or they jocke with as.

Hi there,

Make Arrow , to provide you more information about internet connection, provider so to speak. Few weeks ago I'm using ADSL and like you, I have the same problem it really SUCK! I'm mostly connecting website outside China and more than really slow, most of the time server cannot find. So, I ask another provider, currently now, I'm using FTTB+Lan like Xixi suggest, it's more faster and I don't have problem than with ADSL. This is based on my experience, You can try it and check for yourself.

I hope this information might help you to consider some options.

Our company has a branch office in Shanghai and head quarter in New York. Shaghai branch has ADSL circuit installed and doing only e-mails. Our goal is to expand this facility and give access to the servers in NY and other trading partner's web site in USA. We are looking for a Internet Service Provider who can give responce time around 250ms round trip from Shaghai office to servers in NY. I have spent over two months in finding ISP who can deliver our needs and has no success.

Our ISP is Sprint in NY and what I have found that Sprint has two big "pipes" installed at Shanghai Telecom's facility for any internet traffic is bound outside of China. ST is routing all traffic to only one "pipe" from all ISP which is causing congestion during certain peak time and at the same time second pipe is sitting idle and has no traffic flowing. When Sprint ask to use other "pipe" for Sprint customers, ST is not giving any responce or making any changes that Sprint is requesting.

We also have a branch office in Hong Kong and T1 circuit is installed. I have see no issue when working from HK and accessing servers in NY. Also, IP phone is working like a charm.

Please suggest any practicle solution to get our Shaghai office connected to NY over the internet or by any other means.

When connected from Shanghai to HK to NY office, connection was very stable but speed was always slow. We need round trip packet speed of around 250ms. Also, speed was consistant and was around 350ms.

Post subject: choose a relatively better ISP in China

I am now working in a rep office of a US company. Our building is now using internet connection provided by China Netcom-Fttb+Lan. It's more reliable compare with China telecom's in the recent 2 months. We can quickly open almost all the web sites located out of China. You may try that.

I ahve ADSL problems from China Telecrap as well. Also the website asiafriendfinder has been blocked by the gov. I was talking with the admin at asiafriendfinder and they don't know why, maybe they are worried that the foreigners are taking there woman. Anyhow I hosted a website in China and it sucks. I would warn people about hosting sites in this country and advise they should host outside of the mainland where it's stable but more importantly where there is good support. China Telecrap does has support problems, I have called many times but most times the answer is I don't know. It's not because the people on the other end are stupid, anyone can be trainned, it's because the upper management are ripping everyone off. China Telecrap must be the worst Telecom in the world.

Dear Bskerr1 The website asiafriendfinder you can see without problem and the problem isn't that samebody block same website the problem is that China Telecom Beijing decide to give more priority to Beijing area so all the traffic coming from Shanghai is congestioned and up they donět decide to put more links there are no way with ADSL. For the http://sh.cnc.net.cn Dear CalvinWH the company is the same the owner is China Telecom but this FTTB+LAN isn't available everywhere normaly they have one of the two possibility and not both only in few building there are both so you can change but it's because you are lucky. So we must always waiting China telecom to improve their internet system if you try to surf the net arround 2 a.m. there are no so much problem as there are no congenstion.

Anyone has used ITBN or IT-Resources for high speed and consistant internet connection in Shanghai? I am looking forward to sign up with this company for dedicated 1.05Mbps internet line. Anyone who can share your experience with this company would be really a big help in making my final decision.

Also, Should I go for FTTB or FTTO? There are few (10 or less) companies in the same complex.

When I installed my ADSL from CT my landlord told me that they had the same connection at home and that her computer with windows XP was very slow connecting to the internet and that her husband, who ran windows 98 didn't have this problem.

I don't know that much about computers but I don't think that this should be a problem for you ADSL connection.

Perhaps some parts of XP interfears with CT?

The guy who installed my ADSL confirmed what my landlord told me, "Windows has too much software in it"

I laught when he told me this...

Anyway, has anyone else experienced different performence from different operating systems?
Please share...

Just signed up with China Telecom myself here in Shanghai, thinking it would be at least as fast as PoderNet in Mexico. To my dismay, that is not the case. How seriously is the issue of poor connectivity and congestion being treated by CT?

I wish I could help you but the fact is everybody is hoping something is done. For the last 6 mounths nothing changed and there are still no signs of a quick solution.
In my case I am screwed my only option is China telecom there is simply nothing else to get in this building.

Is it worth it to call and/or write to complain to the company, or do they simply not care? Is there an email address where customers may make suggestions?
