Post subject: Z-Visa expired! HELP

Hello to all,

I have now a big problem. I left my school for a few weeks changed over to Shanghai to find a job. Now I found a job and of course my new employer needs my passport for the working visa dn residence card.

First what was happen, i forgot my passport in my old school, this weekend i found it and my friends brought me the passport over.
And so I found out, that my VISA is expired since May 24.

Second, what should I do?
I dont know the customs in China, and I dont know what will happen if I go now to the Immigration, because I'm illegal here. Do I'm now in big trouble, or I just pay a ticket or what will happen?

Hope someone know what is the best way to get a new Visa and how i can handle it with the Immigration without big issues.

Thanks a lot for any advice.

Chances are you just pay a fine and they get it renewed. The fine, from what I have heard is around 5000 RMB. A few people have talked their way out of the fine, but I would not count on it. You will probably need the help of your old employer to get yoru Z visa renewed though.
