Post subject: Trailing spouse visa????

Please help, my husband has a great job opportunity in Shanghai, but I was disappointed to find out that I can only get a "trailing spouse visa" and cannot work for a year. Is there any way around this??

Well, the visa gets you in the country legally. You will have to check with the particulars with your husbands company, but usually there are several options.
Take jobs that pay in cash... many english teaching jobs fall into this category...
If you find a job, have your new employers help get a new working visa...
Start your own business...
You may find it difficult to get a regular 9 to 5 job anyway unless you can speak at least a little Chinese. It also depends on your particular skills.
