Post subject: MahJong

I'm sick and tired of not being able to play MahJong. If anybody wants to join in, my school will be holding a free MahJong class on Fridays from 10:30am to 12:30pm. For the address and more details check out: http://www.gatewaymandarin.com

I alwasys have a stupid impression that Mahjong is for near-sighted people that read enough Sun Zi Military Science (孙子兵法) but are too near-sighted to join army for a real fight ...

I'm sick and tired of not being able to play Chess. By that I mean real chess, not this childrens game with buttons they call chess here. Real chess has pawns and rooks and bishops and knights and kings and queens.

Does anyone here know how to play this?

I used to be picked from the rest of my so-damn't-lucky classmates and forced to learn "International Chess" in primary school (yeah pawns and rooks and bishops and knights and kings and queens) ... man that killed all my interests and fancy about the Chess ...

I was walking around the Xiangyang market last weekend and kept on seeing beautifully carved chess sets. Yes, I know they're fantastic tourist traps, but seeing the pieces and the boards suddenly made me want to start again - I haven't really played for a few years. If you want a teacher, I'm more than willing to help out. Although I can't claim to be anywhere near good enough to teach you anything but the most basic strategy. Smile

Of course, seeing the Jo boards and the Mah-Jongg sets did the same thing, so unless I watch out I'll be spending all my time trying to make my friends sit on the ground and play board games.

And back to work I go.
