Post subject: Airfare to Dhaka, Bangladesh

Does anyone know the cheapest way to get from Shanghai to Dhaka?

I know Dragonair flies there, but I've heard that there may be direct flights between Dhaka and Kunming, which would be faster and probably cheaper too.

Any ideas?

My bf just back from Dhaka, he said there are no direct flight from Shanghai, as he remember, direct flight only from HK or Bangkok.

And he said except Dragonair, there also Biman, if u take Biman from HK directly to Dhaka, only around 375USD, but he suggest u to take Dragonair, cox it will be more safe, comfortable and clean.

I hope my information is reliable..Razz

I lived in Dhaka for a couple of years and would agree with doublewood, avoid Biman! Dragon air flight from HK is only a couple of times per week. I think your best solution is to fly Thai or Singapore airlines. They have daily flights to Dhaka.

Goodness, I am so surprised there is this much traffic between Dhaka and Shanghai! I am from Dhaka originally and have experimented with many different routes to get to China in the past couple of years. There aren't any direct flights yet, though Biman claims it will have them up and running by 2005, and then there's also that exciting roadlink between Yunnan and Bangladesh through Burma that's supposed to start construction any day now, so fingers crossed.
Anyway, flights:
Singapore airlines - daily, DAC - SG - SH with a five hour stopover in SG. about 780 USD roundtrip.
Thai - daily, DAC - BKK - SH with 6 hours in BKK. about 700 USD roundtrip.
Dragonair -Sun, Mon and Thu only. DAC - HK - SH with an hour and a half in HK. shortest duration. 750 USD.
Malaysian airlines. daily except Mon and Fri. DAC-KL-DAC with 4 hours in KL. about 714 USD roundtrip.

These are prices quoted by my Bangladeshi travel agent in Dhaka (Aug 2004) - my agent in Beijing gave me ones that were very similar.

Am really curious, how come you guys have been to Bangladesh? What do you think of it?
