| Post subject: help!visa application question |
ok, yet another post ...bear with me here...this one is regarding a rejected visa application i submitted in japan and if this could affect me in china.
they rejected it because they thought there was a falsehood on my resume. here's a brief explanation:
i had a student visa and taught English part time when i was in japan. after the visa expired and i was back in the U.S. , my passport was destroyed(in the washing machine by accident!)a few years later, with my new passport, i decided to apply for a working visa. so i think they have no record of my pt. time teaching position because of my new passport and therefore thought i was lying on my resume.
this is proabably dumb, but is there any way this would affect me when trying to get a visa in another country? i will be listing that same teaching position on my resume when looking for work in shanghai. not sure how it all works- with computer records and cross-referencing or whatever they use to check on people
if anyone has any advice, pls respond! thanx so much! |

I am assuming that you are using a US passport. If that is the case, then contact the Passport agency and ask them for the old passport number. The Japanese visa officers should be able to locate the visa number if you are able to provide them with the old passport number.
Additionally, the US returns the old passports when a new one is issued. Since yours was destroyed I am guessing that they have a reference somewhere to this fact. You many be able to get them to write a letter verifiying that your passport was reported destroyed. Could help.
Shouldn't effect you when applying for visas in another country. Most applications don't ask if you have been denied a visa by another country, they just ask if you have been denied a visa by the country to which you are applying.
In the future, you may want to keep a file of all your passports and visas . . . that way you can have all the numbers at your fingertips should they be required. |
