Ja imam pet godina iskustva u "international trade"-u i jos uvek radim u toj oblasti i najvise izmedju Kine i Evrope.
A sta ti radis? je l' si u Sangaju? Koliko imas godina? Je l' studiras ili radis?
Ako imas neku ideju o tome koliko bih mogla da zaradim sa mojih pet godina iskustva i sa pet jezika, bila bih ti bs zahvalna. CUjemo se... Vesna

I guess the avg salary is 2000 us dollar a month.
With your experience and skills,i think you can get more than 3000 us dollar a month.
The local's Avg salary is only a bit more than 1000 us dollar a year. |

Hi there ! Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it.
So, you think that I can ask for 3000 USD per month. SOunds good to me, but we'll see if this is going to be the case. I really do hope so.
But are you sure that locals with the same experience get only 1000USD per year? Isn't it per month? If so, it's really little money.
Are you in SHanghai? Where are you working : which field? Are you employee or employer ? Where are you from? Nice meeting you...

Hello Mathias,
Oh, lucky you, you are leaving in January 2005.
If we (my husband, our baby and I) are lucky, we will leave in that time too.. Did you see the reply here above? The average salary (for my case and experience) is about 3000USD per month. That's not bad..
I have to tell you that it is great that your company wants to send you there. Oh, whatta chance...please grab it! My company won't do that, so we have to find the way on our own and it is not easy.
In case you have some information that may interest me as well, please share it. Good luck with nagotiation. Vesna |

So that's about 700rmb per month? I don't think so. Even a waitress makes more than that. For general clerical local staff, I think the average is 1500 to 2000, and for those really capable ones, it can go up to more than 10000rmb per month. |

knockknock...
Ehhh...I think you missed a zero there...1000USD is roughly 7000RMB, whihc pretty much works out as a normal salary for a local. Expats will have higher than that for obvious reasons.
Somewhere between 2000 - 3000USD should be reasonable, which works out to be 14000-21000RMB |

depending on the nature of the job. May vary between 1500 RMB-2500 RMB for university graduates. More experienced 3000 RMB-5000 RMB. With solid work experience and fluent English can go as high as 8000-10,000 RMB, its not unusual for some elite locals. |

Please be informed that the minimum salary in Shanghai is RMB680 a month + statutory required contributions like P-Fund, etc. There's no ceiling if you're on commission based income. I've a local friend with a MBA from CEIBS who can only speak Chinese earn RMB1-1.5mil a year.
Laforge - If you're in the sales profession, ask for a basic salary to ensure you can survive plus a result based return, e.g. 1% for RMB10mil. net sales, 2.5% for RMB10-20mil, 5% for RMB20-30mil, etc. |

with laforge's experience ,the local also can get more than 1000 dollar a month. |

Most of the lower paying jobs filled by Chinese nationals are filled by people from outside of Shanghai. Store clerks etc actually get paid on the order of 600 RMB per month (my wife has several working for her) plus commision. Some shops provide dormitories with food. that's why when you walk into a deprtment store there are seemingly endless numbers of staff. From so many, that is near heaven as there is precious little work/opportunity in the uderdeveloped provinces. |

680RMB a month is the statutory minimum wage in Shanghai, I suppose it applies to every employer (local or foreign) to pay his employee at least this minimum wage for working within Shanghai. Different city has different minimum wage. Having said that, a lot of local workers who come from outside Shanghai to work here have difficulties getting any pay at all, it's scandalous!! |

3,000RMB or USD?? I hope you don't mean USD, 'cause I'm getting underpaid, darn!
It really depends on the region... but you can get a good salary in Shanghai, that's for sure! |

wow I must be over paying my staff my PA is Chinese with an overseas MBA she is getting 12500 RMB per month plus expenses.. I have 2 expats that work for me and both of them are getting 1k base plus commision which they are averaging 3k per month.. so I dont think 3k would be a min,, from what I know 2.5-3k is average.. but then again Im in the finance biz and that industry is not known for paying top $$.. Bank presidents here in China have an average salary of $35,000 plus bonuses I personaly know of 4 and they are maxed out at 60-65k and all 4 have an overseas educations and work experience.. so it is all dependant upon the industry and company that you work for and the region,,, a good friend of mine is raking in around 40k USD per month as an indepedant consultant... |
