| Post subject: Does Shanghai have a scuba diving club? |
Hi - I am coming out to Shanghai next summer (2005) with my family. Once my kids are settled down thne I will be looking to restart my hobbies- and the most important one is scuba diving!! Can anyone tell me if there is a scuba diving club in Shanghai?
Many thanks

Errrr, sorry Nadia, but you'll have to forget about scubadiving here...
They do offer classes (but I guess you dont really need anymore...).. in a pool somewhere... and apart from that, nothing around... to the best of my knowledge.
You have to fly out to SEA to dive.

Well, ok Filip but they dont actually dive in here... unless I am mistaken, they all fly out to diving sites located anywhere but China, right?

Yeah, the oceanarium at Aquaria 21 is more than a bit larger than the average pool... One guy proposed to his girlfriend by scubadiving there last year... |

Thanks for all your responses- yes- really useful I realise that I will have to fly away to dive (i am very lucky right now as I live beside the sea in the UK and can dive every weekend locally - BUT it is cold!!). However, belonging to a dive club wil enavle me to make friends and go on trips - even if my dives are not as frequent as they are now! Plus- I will have my DiveMater certificate by New year so -who knows?? Maybe I cna find some work helping instructors at the aquarium -let's hope so!
Many thanks again
