| Post subject: One month working (Z) visa? |
Hi,
I arrived in Shanghai on a 2 month tourist visa then extended for one month in Wusong Lu. Then I found a job here and my company applied for me for a working visa. The working visa application in Wusong Lu was done a few days before my tourist expires on September 5th.
Today September 6th I received my working visa from my company but what a surprise when I saw that my working visa (Z) was looking like a tourist visa and will expire on October 1st with zero entries instead of one year and multiple entries. My company says that they need to apply for a business license and the visa office gave me another month to give time to my company to apply for one year working visa.
Do you have information about this? Thanks for your replies.

I have one of those zero entry visas that was issued in HK (that was a confusing mess but another story). It just means that you have a temporary visa, issued in China and that you can't leave China while the paperwork for the permanant/regular Z visa paperwork (and then the actual visa) is being prepared and applied for. Once the business license is taken care of and you have the work permit and residence permit (these are small booklets that you will get); then all of that will be taken back to the visa place, along with your passport, and you will be issued the regular Z-visa for one year.
Basically, it means that you are able to stay in China until October 1st with that visa. Do not exit China in this timeframe or you will mess it all up.
You won't have to go through all of this again ... just a one-time pain in the rump. |

gregsh,
this is normal... your co is right they have to apply for the business license but they shold have already done that already in order no to waste time. I got that Z 1 mo no entries situation but it was no problem so no worries just be sure you follow up with your co on the business license thing so you get it before the visa expires ok?
hope this helps..

It's a temporary working(Z) visa, with this kind of visa, your company can apply the work permit for you from the Chinese larbour dept. after they get your work permit, then you can apply your 1 year Z visa and residence permit in No 333 Wu Song Rd. so Don't worried about too much about that. |
