| Post subject: Local bank money transfers |
Hi,
I need to pay my landlord by transferring money from my local bank to his local bank account as he is out of the country. Does anyone know how to do this? Can i do a transfer at an ATM or do i have to go into the bank? Also what info do i need and how long does it usually take? My bank is merchants and his is china construction.

I'm pretty sure you have to go to the bank to do this. I think you just need your bank book, his bank account number, and a bank branch name, and it should be ok. I've done it this way before, anyway. |

okay, heard i could set it up as a regular transfer without going to the bank. anyone know had any experience with that? |

Never heard of scheduled transfers here, but go to your bank and ask, Merchants Bank is actually pretty good.
I had the same situation at a place I used to live. I had the landlord open an account at a branch near my office and he gave me a 'deposit book' that is a bank book that is used to record deposits only.
I would have to withdraw cash and deposit it in his account every month. pain in the arse actually. |

I don't think you can set up regular transfer to a personal account, it can be done to pay the utilities only. You have to go to your landlord's bank, that is, the construction bank to deposit the cash into his account. |
