Hello all,
I've posted some questions the last few days concerning a position being offered to me in Wuxi. I'm not sure if I've asked about Wuxi itself. Any info on Wuxi, such as nightlife, etc... Would I most likely be traveling to Shanghai in the evenings to meet people and nightlife?
The position is more or less a Project Manager for an automotive parts manufacturer. I believe they are offering me a typical expat package. I've been told the salary would be $7,500.00 USD per month. Is that a good amount for the area?
I'm also single. So how about dating? Plenty of women to meet in Wuxi and/or Shanghai?
I've been told crime is low, pretty much non-existant. How about illness for westerner adapting to China? I've read there are problems with SARS, AIDS and something about recent reports of the Bubonic Plague.
Any information on these topics or anything you would like to just throw in would be appreciated...

Do not know much about Wuxi, but it is probably has a lot less western options and is more conservative than Shanghai. You should live well on $7500 month. |

you probably won't travel to shanghai for your night live, 'cos the distance is about 2 hours drive, may come for the weekends though. |

RMB 62,000 per month.............even after tax you'll be able to live quite comfortable in Wuxi on that amount...make sure you find a house that's not downwind of the major industrial area around Wuxi......it smells, especially the chemical plant.
Nightlife.........where? I didn't see a lot of excitement, it's mostly dining and some discos or karaoke, but only went there 3 times. |
