Post subject: What to do in my case?

This is the situation.

I have a single entry student visa currently, which will expire December 20th this year, but I will leave the country 6 days later (december 26th) going to Japan for a week and then come back to China to stay for only one more week before flying back home.

What to do? Just apply for a tourist visa? As well do I need to extend my current visa for only 6 days (in order not to get into trouble)? Where in Shanghai can I get a new tourist visa so that, when coming back from Japan I can enter China?

Thanks for the help! Very Happy

You must extend your visa. Do not overstay your Chinese visa. Try to see if you can have it extended, otherwise, re-arrange your flights if possible so you are not overstaying. Most likely, should your current single-entry visa be extended, it will not include additional entries, which means that you will still need a new visa for entry upon your return to China from Japan.

You may wish to apply for a new tourist visa, although I am not sure you can do that in China, since presumably, you are already in the country. You can also apply for a Chinese visa in Japan for your re-entry, in case you are unable to get one in China.

There are several threads which contain contact information for some agencies that can help sort out the best option for you ... have a look around and see what else you can find.

Best of luck!

Post subject: tourist visa extension is the only solution I got for you

hi there,

the only way I see for you to get out of this, is to get a tourist visa in China. We can help you get it. Our agency have already helped people like you with a student X visa get a 1 month extension after they finish their studies. We do charge for this service and you can contact with our visa manager Mrs. Beatrice Liu, just call our office number 62492301 ext. 602.

She will be able to get you a tourist visa with an extra entry so you will be able to get back to China and you will still have time before it expires to go back home.
