| Post subject: feeding my one year old |
hi fellow parents,
According to the pediatrician, we should switch to whole cow milk from infant formula for our one year old girl. But I hear some stories about "not so safe" food products in China. Should I worry about feed my baby with the fresh milk at all? Any recommendation about brand and should I just buy them from 24 hour convenience stores?
thanks in advance!

i can suggest not to give your baby any formula.. if you are breastfeeding keep doing it and just feed your baby solids. I do that with mine, she eats everything already yet she is still breastfeeding, she is now 18 mos old |

There have been a few discussions here about milk in China. I choose to buy the UHT milk from Australia instead of the Chinese fresh milk. My family even prefers the taste. I hear a lot of rumors about the lack of regulations in China as to what the cows get fed, so feel it's safer to use imported milk. The brand my family likes is Country Goodness, found in Carrefour, Metro, etc. I buy it by the case. There are also other Aussie, New Zealand and even European brands at Pines and City Supermarket. |

There are formula brands that cater for over 12 month olds. It's just your choice whether to give your child formula or cow's milk. I breastfed my children the first year then switched them to cow's milk. I wouldn't worry too much about the quality of the cow's milk here. My children are in kindergarten/ primary school now and we are new to SH and they are drinking fresh cow's milk. Considering they also drank fresh milk and stayed healthy when we lived in Bangladesh, I'm cool with the milk here. |
