Key in '00', followed by country code then the mobile number. Shouldn't be a problem. For some strange reason, the '+' prefix doesn't seem to work here. |

It also depends how your mobile account is set up. If you have a pre-paid card it is quite possible that you have to 'unlock' it by calling your service provider. This can take anything from 2 hours to 3 weeks...
Many of the pre-paid cards also have to be 'unlocked' in order to be used outside Shanghai.
Yes...I have been through this exact problem and needless to say it was incredibly frustrating...it can be done though
Good luck... |

depending on the service provider you have china telecom, unicom etc. will have a bearing on what prefix you need to type in. ie. '+00' plus country code.... or '00' plus country code or just the '+' then country code. also note that in fact some simcards cannot send to some international codes but can others while some can receive but cannot send out at all... while others can send but not recieve from some or all countries...
generally speaking the simcards starting 139 can send and receiev from almost every where... simply put it is a little trial and error...
been down this road... and know the frustration... and be careful if you end up in another city and purchase a simcard... because you have to get the simcard recharged in that city... when you want to top it up.
well thats my 10 cents (1 kwai) worth |
