Ijust returned from Hainan. We had a great time, it was warm and sunny the whole time.
We stayed at the Resort Intime, in Dadonghai Bay. Many people stay in Yalong Bay but I think Dadonghai bay might be better for having more than just hotels, but I'm not sure. The fancier resorts are in Yalong.
We stayed in one of the corner, or ocean-view rooms. Many rooms look out to the sea, but ours had a panoramic view, it was incredible, all ocean and mountains.
We paid a little more, about $120 a night, but it was so worth it.
The resort itself is great, the beach is beautiful, as are the pools.
There's not much to do on Hainan except go to the beach/pools, so it's important to be at a nice resort, and resort Intime is the nicest one in that bay.
Have a great time! |

I heard that ocean view 3 stars hotel during chinese new year would prabably cost you around 1200RMB, but less than 150RMB the rest of the year.
Are you sure you don;t want to reconsider the time for your visit? I even refused my girlfriend to come visit me in china during that time. |

Unfortunately my boyfriend only has that week off and is desperate to get away. I'm not too keen on flying so closer to Shanghai the better. |

we too are on our post-Sanya vacation high but have also heard that a room that went for 900RMB in Dec will go for 4000 during Chinese New Year- this seems to be the trend from several sources...
as for hotels... Dadonghai is roughly 15 mins from the airport, has a wonderful beach, is within walking distance to inexpensive eating/shopping and to LuHuiTou Park (one of Sanya's major "attractions")while Yalong Bay, 45ish minutes from the airport, tends towards the more expensive (but not necessarily better) resorts and has very little if any non-resort eating/shopping within walking distance

I was in Sanya during the summer and stayed at the Holiday Inn, Yalong Bay. Good hotel right on the beach and in my opinion its a better beach there than DadongHai.
However there is not a lot to do in Yalong Bay, i was there for the beach and the pool which is ok during the day but at night time it got slightly boring staying in the hotel. They did have entertainment and you can obviously go to the other nearby hotels and sample their entertainment.
Dadonghai whilst busier with restaurants and shops had very little else and looked like an older and dirtier version of Yalong Bay.
Sanya City itself had some nice shops and decent seafood restaurants. |
