| Post subject: US PS2 (nice ring to it) with Problems |
A neighbor of mine moved back to the US after a very bad faulty start with a company here. HE moved back in a hurry and asked me if I wanted a PS2 unit with a dvd remote AND 1 controller. I took it as he was not interested in shipping it back and was going to throw it away (his company gave him a nice severance and he walked away from a bunch of crap in his apartment).
Heres the problem(s):
1) There is no electrical cord for it (from the unit to the the outlet)...he says he lost it when he moved here a month ago.
2) Its a US model...110 watt etc. If my limited knowledge of science is correct, it would need some kind of convertor. (After I found a plug for it!)
3) It does not have a chip in it. And I have no games for it. So...I have NOTHING to play on it movie or gamewise.
4) He told me it will only play US coded dvds/games.
SOooo... what good is this piece of sh*t other than a dust collector. How can I get it up to snuff. Any ideas? |

Think you should be OK. Not sure of the place unfortunately but they will chip normal PS2 machines here. I assume that most are Japanese but hopefully they can do a US one. Must be someone on this forum that can suggest a place. A good start may be the guys that sell the games at the market or in the shops?
If you can get a power cord that fits then to take it down to 110 will be fairly straightforward too. |

can get a converter that is especially made for PS2 ... that is what I used. important because it it not just the currency that you need to watch out for, but also the other number (maybe watts) ... believe the PS2 runs on 33 or 66 or something like that. most all shops that sell PS2 will have these. less than RMB300. have used my for years and never had a problem.
yes, they can chip US PS2 machines .... loads of places will do it. just ask anywhere that sells PS2 things. |

Many thanks. Its done. Got it chipped and a convertor/cord all for 400 at Xujaihui. Picking it up tonite. Probably got ripped off (and wasted 50 going to and fro) but Im too anxious and too bored to care. To top it off, now that I took my first walk around this neighborhood (I moved here a few days ago) Im finding tons of places that can do it within a 2 minute walk. Blame it on American impatience. |
