Weird is the word I would use to describe you and your post.. I have been coming to China since 95 and lived here since 99. I have spoken to hundreds of Chinese girls, all kinds. As far as I can remember I never had a conversation about China. Maybe there something with you, obvious cultural difference or something that makes them want to talk about China? Or perhaps you are not a very good conversationist and China is an easy topic the girl can bring into the conversation. Think about it.

frenchlover

no girl ever said to you that 'this is china' or 'in china we act like this' or 'china has always been like this' etc.
they never ask u 'bout chinese history, chinese leaders or question u 'bout things here and how they work ?
maybe its true 'bout the french and logical thinking the two don't go together.
no girl ever commented on u chopsticks skills ?

Very Happy alright - here is something for you!!!

    I Wanna Talk About Me

We talk about your countryfellow how your foreign boss is a jerk
We talk about your language and your headache when I said pi4gou3 when I meant gou3pi4
We talk about the frustration you've been having with your government
About your chopsticks and your Qipaos and your crazy ex Chinese lover
We talk about your resentfluness towards Japan and the Japanese commodities that you've been stemming the torrent of
We talk about your dark eyes straight hair and how much you want to be a blondie
Your slitish eyes and your body that is not of enough curve
And God knows we're gonna talk about your breast implant surgery

You know talking about you makes me smile
    But every once in awhile

    I wanna talk about me
    Wanna talk about I
    Wanna talk about number one
    Oh my me my
My country, my culture, my homesick, my anger to your fellows, oh and my aggression on nailing all Chinese hotties
I like talking about you, usually, but occassionally
    I wanna talk about me
    I wanna talk about me

We talk about your dreams and we talk about your red-god faith
your high school team and your allergy to Clinique creme
We talk about your ganna up in t¡bet, himalaya
We talk about your grandma down in Xiamen
We talk about the magic of your favourite stinky dofu
its smell that you yuk and its taste you yum
We talk about your complex of inferiority being Chinese, about your fragiles and your smart a$$ that can be a real pain
your gayish folk music that never rocks

You know talking about you makes me grin
    But every now and then

    I wanna talk about me
    Wanna talk about I
    Wanna talk about number one
    Oh my me my
my guita, my god, my beer, my soccer, how I won the match last Sat.
I like talking about you, usually, but occassionally
    I wanna talk about me
    I wanna talk about me

You you you you you you you you youyouyouyouyou
    I wanna talk about me

    I wanna talk about me
    Wanna talk about I
    Wanna talk about number one
    Oh my me my
What I think, what I like, what I know, what I want, what I see
I like talking about you, usually, but occassionally
    I wanna talk about me
    I wanna talk about me

hope this helps when you sing away the frustration ... Razz

With 99.9% of Chinease girls, every conversation goes like this:

"Aaahhhhh, sooo, how long you cum Chiina?"

<insert answer here>

"Aaahhhhh, sooo, you like Shanghai?"

<insert answer here>

* * * End Conversation * * *

BORING AS SH1T

Dammit, nothing cured me of yelow fever faster than actually having to listen to local girls. They are just so totally devoid of personality. The fact that they will tell you how great Mao was, is nothing more than a way of disguising the fact that a single synapse has ever fired in what passes for a brain of theirs.

Soith East Asian women, now that's different... They are all about character, charm, personality (and they look better, too).

I wonder what kind of girls you guys meet. As for jews, ask any Chinese and you will learn that jews are very clever. Not sure where this come from but it is a rather standard answer. As for the most casual conversation I have, the kind of conversation you have when there is nothing to say, for example with taxi drivers they usually tell me how France and China are friends. They used to tell me how Mitterrand was a great friend of China (I sometimes venture he sold weapons to Taiwan) now they usually know Chirac better. Anyway, I think your conversation problems are yours, not the girls. Maybe you dont inspire them anything better or limited language abilities come in the way. Ok, time to enjoy the weekend for me. Have fun too.

Probably was told by parents and grandparents who had experience with Jewish communities in China. It has something to do with the diaspora of Jewish people, and China, esp Hunan, Nanjing and Shanghai used to be main regions that Jewish people relocated to in late 1800s and early 1900s.

We have also been educated in school that Jewish people are among those earliest "westerners" who start their commodity trading business in China.

Jewish people are well known for their business senses. not that businessman's been a profession that's been valued highly in Chinese tradition, but Chinese always think people that are good business are very clever. I always think people with good business sense and sucessful in business are most likely those always-on-the-ways, with open minds, adventurous characters and flexible personalities. Another good example is Chinese Hakkas i.e. Fujianers, chaoshaners etc from the south of China.

Well, again. in Chinese history and tradition, cleverness and social class status never seemed to have anything to do with each other, rediculously, as intellectuals' value and contribution to this country had never been fully identified and recognized by the nation till post cultural revolution.

Jewish community here seemed to mingled iwth the local really well and had introduced shared with locals lots of stuff that were quite some hi-tech to locals at that time.

Chinese girls? How about Chinese guys?

Just like frenchlover, I wonder what kinda girls you meet and where you meet them. Maybe their English ain't that good, so they explain everything with the same sentence - 'this is China'.

Try talk to a Chinese girl who is washing down free drinks at Zapata's Wednesday and Mural Saturday. You might get a different story.
