This thread is one of the few containing useful information on topical international and cultural issues. If the locals don't have the reading or logical skills to appreciate that, what are we to do?
Pit the site?

Well, I'd like to say thank you to everyone who knows "the place I call home" (yeah, prefer to avoid "country" to cease possible future debate) better than any of my Shanghainess fellows. You don't know how much it means to a Chinese from Taiwan in Shanghai by mainlander parents who feels right living under neither Communist nor Taiwaness goverment.
As to amega, I think now I have enough clues about her background to believe she has every right to say what she said here. "Death and Life in Taiwan" would be the story if there is such a book. Of course, if I am wrong or the whole thing's too difficult to be understood by a KMT-raised (and without any degree^^), my apology.

Rosy, would you mind clarifying your meaning a little further?
What parts Amega's poorly informed rant are you referring to? And what exactly do you mean when you say she had 'every right' to say what she did? Are you expressing agreement with her? If so then with what parts of her comments?
Personally, I didn't find much of value on what she wrote, but I will agree she certainly the 'right' to make a fool of herself if she chooses. |
