"The games will definitely NOT work on a PS2 console in the UK. And chipping is highly illegal there"
So what! Who is going to do anything about it anyway? |

Thank you all that have joined this thread, we are coming to Shanghai again in 2 weeks time to organise housing for our move in August. Looking forward to going back to the market with my new found wealth of information and hopefully bagging some gifts for family and friend at bagain basement prices. Will post my bagains when I return.
Once again thanks to one and sundry.
Cheers |

You missed the point, Mike. I was merely replying that PS games bought here, will NOT work on a console bought in the UK, which is not chipped.

The market opens everyday from around 9am to 6:30pm. Some stalls open earlier and close later. |

With the number of posts on here and the fact that most people start by offering me RMB7 a disc ... I can't fathom why you'd pay a premium when buying that many.
At least it's better than Ka De Club .. |

You are paying too much for a DVD5.. But it would be a good bargain with DVD9. 5 or 9 ??? |

Not have much experience in Xiangyang market, but like to shopping in private shops.
In Xiangyang market, I bought:
a Polo long-sleeve sweater(made of cotton)--50rmb(but I think I should bargain for a even lower price.)
a nice light-red leather coat(well design)--200rmb
handmade bracelet--28rmb for 3
a silk long scarf with pink Dior logo--30rmb |

You should be able to get any pair of sneakers in XiangYang market for less than 100 RMB.

Yeah I know, it was my last day and I was in a hurry and got really tired of bargaining. 10 euro cents more or less, I couldnt care less.
But I do have a target, DVD's for 5RMB next time. |

^ All the Xiangyang DVD dealers will go down to 5 RMB a disc. They don't like it, but they all will after 5 minutes or so. But better to know the dealer, 'cause the quality is definitely widely variable at that point.
Plus, as you said . . . it's the equivalent of 0.20 Euro. Which doesn't really matter all that much to a visitor, I would think.
Of course, as a "local", I bargain my butt off, so I'm not really one to talk . . .

In general, I was referring to the quality of the DVDs themselves and how the quality varies widely based on what movie it is, when it came out, who burnt it, etc. I meant to observe that if you have a reliable dealer in Xiangyang Market, or at least someone who knows you fairly well, then they'll usually steer you away from the ones that they know are crap quality.
My most reliable guy is the one who has his stock in the brown cupboard immediately to the right when you go into the covered part of via the back/market-side entrance. It looks like an old, abandoned cupboard until you ask one of the guys sitting around in the belt/Mont Blanc stall if they know where you can get DVDs.

I really do not have a clue which one you mean. The moment I step out of the cab, there are all guys coming at me yelling: dvd buy watch. Hilarious!
Anyway, I always get lost there!
So 5RMB huh, ok will do next time, I like to bargain, but not when I'm fed up with it and had been doing it for almost 2 hours. |

The price depends on who bargain.
And normally, if it is asked by foreigner, the sale man offer higher price.
You shall insist on the price you offer. Otherwise, just let it go. |

Is there an indoor section? Where is it near to? I usually go in at the entrance on Huaihai Lu not on the corner.
Thanks |

I bought the calloway big berthas, woods, irons, and putter for around 1000 RMB.
Also included the leather bag, airplane bag, head covers, balls, and tees.
Watch out for the cheap ones not using the real raw materials...a magnet will stick to the titanium. Actually, I found out later the putter was crap. But everything else is great. |
how can real calloway big berthas be so cheap?? are the real? |
