| Post subject: Greetings |
Hi all --
I just wanted to introduce myself to the community and say "hi".
I moved to SH a week and a half ago to start work as a programmer for a international video game company with a strong presence in Shanghai. Mid 20s, ethnic Chinese but born and educated in the USA (Silicon Valley area). I like games and tech stuff , photography, travelling, eating, reading, music, travelling...
I just got settled into my permanent place two days ago, living in JingAn, close to the Portman, and I've got a good number of friends working out here from home/college, but they're all out in Pudong.
So I'm interested in meeting folks in Puxi as well -- anyone and everyone, but especially fellow young professionals, and/or other ABCs (or Canada, Europe, Australia, NZ... any ethnic Chinese raised in a 'Western' country, I guess). Obviously, we're in a unique situation since we've got the best (and worst) of both cultures. [Thankfully, I can speak basic Mandarin and my job involves something other than teaching English, so I hopefully don't get some of the 'reverse racism' here, although I can still feel it!]
Hope to meet a lot of you sometime,
-- Mark |
