I have been in the remote areas of China a lot, and it made me realize that there is still a long way to go. I don't think that it was zhw7's intention to picture China as a victim. The pictures only show how big the differences in standard of living are in this country.
Nothing new for anybody that has been in many other developing countries in the world. It also shows where the real challenge for the Chinese government is, and where they should be focussing on rather than wasting money on useless "infrastructure" projects, and other prestige objects. A lot of the military budget would be spent better to prevent the rise of the enemy within, than a fictive one on the outside.

OK.. zhw.. I have bumped your quota and the overall board quota for uploads. We have quotas on how much each user can upload so that someone cannot come along and post mbs of uploads all at once and affect how the site operates.

Are these your pictures? If so we can give you an album in the photo gallery.. if they are pictures from other places and sites, we would need permission of the owner to post them in the gallery. You can post what you have here. but it is not an ideal place because some users will not be able to load the page with so many large pictures.

G4K, you expats consider anything that shows the gloomy sides of China as trying to make China look like a victim.

Cannot believe a person who claimed that he has been to a lot of developing countries is so narrow-minded!!!

Maybe it is you who is narrow minded. I guess you have never been out of China.

China is different to places like South Korea, Brazil, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia among others where hospitality comes from the hearts of the people instead of being based on 面子,人情 and 現實 like in China.

I have the same problem, and I've uploaded only one small image in the last year and a half.

What gives?

Everytime when I see these kind of pictures/TV shows, I feel like crying and I tell myself that I should do something for these people, donating money or whatever. Then, in no more than 5 minutes, I will start to think "where is the government?" The government has a lot of money but they just waste it so why should I care.

Let's not even talk about the maglev.

How come the sons and daughters of those government officials are all studying abroad? Who is paying?
