| Post subject: Chinese Privacy |
Today i got the results of the medical exminaitions for the Chines work permit.
I guy walks in my direction having an envelope in his hand, take out a sheet from the envelope and shows it to me telling with a smile that I'm healty and I got the permit.
Good!
He was only trying to be kind and I don't mind, but on that sheet is some relevant information about my blood such HIV test results and so on, how about my privacy?!?
It could have happened in Europe only few years ago, so after 5 months in China I really cannot be surprised.
Just so you are informed... |

It gets much worse than that here. In the hospitals, they will have a patient answer all sorts of very private questions that they shout out for everyone to hear. They will even examine a patient in front of other patients.
Just like the bank tellers shout out on their loudspeakers to you, "What's that? you want to withdraw 10,000 USD?" so the whole fcukin' street hears it.
There is no concept of privacy here. |

I have thought this - and I'm not saying it's a bad thing.
But chinese people can fall asleep anywhere, do their washing and brush their teeth in front of hundreds, argue and shout in front of others....
Interesting. |

Putting 1.6+ billion people in this limited livable land, privacy is way too much ask. Whenever you use ATM here, there are always tons of people waiting behind you, have have no chance to even count the money in private. Why do you think i live in Pudong, and renting a apartment that's on the 27th floor. |
