| Post subject: Social life in small compounds/Vizcaya |
My husband, two young kids, and I will be moving to Shanghai this summer. We are trying to choose a place to live.
We really like Vizcaya in Pudong. However, one concern is that the compound seems on the small side, only about 50 families. We want to ensure that we have ways to meet other families, outside of our children's school and expat clubs. Here are our questions:
1. For those living in smaller developments: is 50 families enough for the Vizcaya clubhouse to have critical mass? By that, I mean are the club activites attended well enough that you will get to meet a lot of people in the development?
2. Are there sports clubs (similar to Shanghai Racquet Club) near Vizcaya/Green Villas that are very active with lots of activities for adults and kids?
3. What are other good ways to meet families besides what I already mentioned (schools, expat clubs, development clubhouse, sports clubs)
4. Does anyone know a Vizcaya resident they could put us in touch with so that we can get a "user's perspective"?
This is a fantastic forum - going through the previous postings has been very helpful. Thanks to all who share their insights here.
Also, we are already working with a realtor, so no help needed on that front, thanks anyway. |

We will be neighbours im in the complex next door the Shimao lakeside. The area is great for expats as we have the shopping centre and a Carrerfour supermarket. there are lots of things going for family's, we are a family of 3 and even though its only been two weeks, we have met a lot of other family's. there is a community centre near the Vizcaya www.communitycenter.cn its got lots of great info.
Send me pm and we could meet for coffee. |

We checked out the community center website and it looks like a great place - very active and with lots of stuff to do! Thanks a lot for the suggestion! |
