DJ k.ILL
DJ k.ILL represents the West Coast, coming from Vancouver, CANADA. He honed his skills on the decks by touring underground Hip Hop clubs from Vancouver to Montreal, local hotbeds of independent North American rap music. By releasing many mixtapes during this period, he gained much insight into the club and studio arts, and produced tracks with such notables as MC Sarks1 of Vancouver’s CME Crew, “Electric” Jon of Winnipeg funk outfit Bass Ship, and Montreal DJ Choyce Kutz of States of Fusion.
Thirsting for adventure and a global perspective, DJ k.ILL first came to Asia in 2002. He arrived in Taipei, Taiwan and quickly established himself on the local Hip-Hop scene with residencies at T.U. (Taipei Underground) and Club 70. Not satisfied with just being a DJ, he founded the company “Hype Asia Productions”, and was soon producing as well as performing at live Hip Hop shows in the clubs.
He has organized tours for many artists out to Asia, such as DJ D.R. ONE (Montreal DMC Champ) and OFFSIDES (Placed #1 in CBC’s “Big Break”). Through the “Hype” production unit he has mastered tracks for many Taiwan-based recording artists, such as MC Finesse (Brooklyn, USA), MC Fox (Seattle, USA), MC Po-Ski (Harlem, USA), and MC Jezelda (Canada). He has performed live with his artists at Taipei’s premiere venues, such as Room 18, Luxy, and Plush, to name but a few.
Now DJ kILL has come to Shanghai, with the aim to continue developing Hip Hop culture and producing artists in Asia. |
