So does anyone know if Henrys is still open?
Our big beer event is on soon at O'Malleys. A heap of beers for you to try, and hopefully find something you like. Check out the other thread for list of some of the beers.
Re that Bronze Age beer. The lads at Craft Beer (that bring in the American Rogue, Dead Guy etc...) had a beer made from an ancient recipe. Don't think they have any left though. Can't recall what it was. Sorry. |

Last weekend a friend told me he was going to a Beatles clone concert at Henrys, so maybe it hasn't closed yet. |

Excerpt from above article
"Vielle Bon Secours:
This tops the list of the world's most expensive beer, costing around £500 (equivalent to around $1,000) per bottle or about £39 (equivalent to around $78.00) per pint."
Not far off that price in Shanghai for a Guinness/Kilkenny on Hengshan lu/Xintiandi |

Bump for the beer thread.
I heard Hoffbrauhaus has opened in Pudong. Has anyone been yet?
Is Henry's still going? What's their beer like these days? |

I went past it in a cab a while back. Presumably it's the same company as the ones in Munich- could be a good night out actually, a few Maas of hefeweizer and some sausages and sauerkraut.
Get in! |

So, back to the question.....is Henry's still open? Just curious how long they can survive without the foriegn brew master and with their newly revamped menu featuring great brew pub grub like chicken feet in black bean sauce, lemon chicken bone pieces, and beef and bwocoli.
Shot. |

Taiwan has plenty of beer houses that pull the crowds with Chinese grub. Those places have got a little dated now but nothing wrong with the concept. Better to do Chinese food well than foreign food badly. |

True that. I guess it depends on what market you are after....locals who drink "two and out" or foreigners who'll "go out drinking" |

Bump for the beer thread, can't believe nothing in 3 months!!
Seen Stella going on draft around town at a few venues. Bamboo, Sashas, Beaver etc... Definitely the best draft beer in town at the moment.
The Craft Beer boys also tell me they've got a few new beers on the way.
New Beer list at Blue Frog venues starting any day now. Complete revamp. Brooklyn Lager will be on there, as will Crown and VB.
The Bund Brewery is apparently launching a couple of new products this week i believe. Probably worth checking this place out.
JustBeer bringing in some new products, available Late April.
Redback - Best Wheat beer in Aus. Great packaging as well.
Bohemia Pilsner - yet to taste it, but apparently it's good
Alpha Pale Ale - again, yet to try, however, it won best beer in Oz last year at Sydney beer awards.
Beez Neez - A Honey beer
Pure Blond - a full flavour, full alcohol 4.6% low carb beer. hopefully this will help keep my beer gut away.
All of these products, and more will be launched at JustBeer.cn 1 year Anniversary party. Similar deal as last years launch. Just a big bloody piss up for a cheap price drinking great beers!
Rejoice! |

yeah, we'll update on our website who will have it. But will definitely be a home delivery product.
Little creatures, yeah i'm a big fan. they building a new brewery so don't have excess capacity until after july.
Mountain goat - ditto. Spoke to them Monday, seeing them in Aus April. they keen, but don't have capacity until end of this year.
Looking forward to trying the bohemia and alpha from Matilda bay though, and getting a fridge full of redbacks. |

oh yeah, we also have Cascade Stout coming, and Mercury Cider. Aparently the Stout is very good. That will replace Tooheys old as our dark beer. |

Yay for mountain goat! I've challenged the guys there to far too many games of foosball then had to serve them breaky the next day when they came into the cafe i worked at....
Just for your own interest, if you get a chance you should try a new beer called 'Brewers'. It's brewed by a guy that lives in Kew. And it's Delicious! Would have no chance of having export capacity, but it's a tasty new drop you might not have tried! |

Castle Oktober, Bund Brewhouse, Henrys.
So yes, there are!
Boags could be available in Shed on weekend, otherwise early next week. It's here, just waiting for Customs. |

Cascade Stout is good stuff. I've got a bunch in the fridge now and it compares very favorably with Coopers Stout. I still reckon Coopers is better but Cascade gives it a good run for its money. The Cascade is a shade lighter and because of that likely more to many people's taste.
I haven't had Red Back in years but it used to be decent.
Little Creatures is fantastic. |
