| Post subject: I had a nightmare this night... |
Hello
I am a freshly graduated french male, I already worked in China (Tianjin) and now I plan to come back in Shanghai in August. My dream is to find a good job there. Of course I have business contacts there that can (maybe) help me but I am quiet afraid.
I heard so many foreigners who came there like me, with their resume in their hands and that finally study chinese in university.
I know that foreigners are in hard competition with chinese people who can speak english fluently and of course chinese. So most of the time they worked as baby-sitters, in phone-centers etc... in order to live decently, waiting for finding a job before their visas expire.
Please wake me up, are there really less and less job and business opportunities in Shanghai?

With your Chinese, English and French skills, I would have thought that it would be easier for you to find works with French companies. Try to contact your chamber of commerce: http://www.ccifc.org/fr/ to obtain the list of members and write to them before coming to Shanghai. Do it before all the French leave for holidays in August!! |

Thank you for the advices Victorian. I already contacted the chamber of Commerce without any results (for the moment). I am still very confident I hope I will make my dream come true. |

Ca va? Wish u all the best in your job hunting in Shanghai. I agree with Victorian that your ability in French, English and Chinese will be a great advantage, combine the language skills with your professional knowledge, I don't think it will be difficult for you to find a satisfactory job.
And be patient for the response from the Chamber of Commerce, French is relatively slow in response, isn't it? I once contacted them also and got their phone call almost month later. I have the contact name there who's responsible for employment, but that was almost 1 year before, I don't know if it still works. Anyhow, I PM you the name and email address of her, hope it would help!
A bientot! |

Contact person changed some time ago.
My understanding is that they cater more for the needs of local chinese than aspiring expats.
Best of luck though.
