| Post subject: Scottish Football |
This might be a bit of a specialist one, but here goes nothing...
Does anyone know a bar which shows live Scottish football?
The Scottish Premier League kicks off on Saturday, and my team, the mighty Motherwell are playing Celtic. The match is televised on Setanta sports on UK satelite, so it may be able to get picked up here.
My hopes for finding somewhere are quite high because by coincidence I saw a recording of the last Motherwell vrs Celtic match from June being played in Bourbon Street recently, so maybe it will be my best shout.
Any thoughts? |

You might want to check with O Malleys if they show it but then again, if more popular sports are on, like formula one, rugby, cricket, snooker, synchronized swimming or nosepicking the odds are quite low.
We have, however, watched the 2nd half of Celtic going down vs. FcMcDonald and lose the title , in the British Bulldog , around the corner from OMalleys
And we saw Rangers win the Cup in O malleys as well on a sunday night , upstairs, hidden in the attic |

Agree with fiddler, o'malleys or british bulldog is your best best although they do only seem to show the bigger games.
The highlights being shown recently have been on another satellite and not the south african one which shows the games live(o'malleys). Even the big bamboo has been running highlights of games for the last two Friday afternoons.
If i cant find the game for tomorrow then i will be resigned to staying at home and listening to the championship flag being raised. |

As they say, O'Malleys is a good choice. The good thing about it is that they have a number of TVs and some obscure satellite stations. If you ask them they will check the schedules and even if something bigger is on then they can show your game on a smaller TV.
They even managed to find me a couple of West Ham games last season and it doesn't get much more obscure than that. |

Thanks for that guys - particularly enjoyed the FC McDonald comment!
Is the championship flag not being raised on Sunday thanks in no small part to the aforementioned Aussie wizard?
I'll take a trek round the grounds as they say on Radio Scotland on Saturday come 1930 - should be no other games on as most sensible leagues don;t start for a couple of weeks. |

we were told the day before the big last day, that they'd show the matches in o malleys, but when we showed up, and formula one was finished that day, we were told that too many people wanted to see the french rugby cup final and that they can only have one satellite feed on all the tv's...
I said rubbish and suspected the irish manager of foul play because they knew Celtic had it coming and were afraid we'd thrash the place out of joy
With the Hungarian Grandprix and the TriNations Rugby on, you'll probably be running out of luck ...They usually have a schedule on their website
Safest bet might be big bamboo...The tv behind the bar upstairs picks up aussie feed as well I think... |

On investigation it appears that the SA satelite channel 'Supersports' will not be showing the match so I will have to find an even more obscure service to watch the game - I think some games last year were broadcast live on the internet.
Also the Trinations opener will conflict with the second half, further reducing my chances.

there's something like www.freelivefootball.co.uk they have streaming feeds of a lot of football games, for which you can register for 3quid for a year I think. According to their website they are the number one provider for streaming football but I could not get around finding out what else they show apart from premiership and championsleague, neither do i know if it's really legal... |

Setanta Australia have the match, so guess that the Big Bamboo is the winner. |

What price on Celtic being relegated? 5-0, *snigger*. Come on the Arabs! |

and with the rangers having won their first game, they're two points ahead of celtic
that should have decided the championship already |

Chinglish, what was the picture quality like from that website. I tried watching a few games last season direct from the rangers site and it was too slow, probably due you the adsl here.
Cheers |
