On Her Majesty's Secret service would have been the best bond movie if it had not been for George Lazenby. I think Connery came back for 2 more after HMSS, such a shame he took a break when he did. |

Yeah, they put an Aussie in and he buggered it up. Brosnan by FAR the best.
Other than the above comment, staying out of this thread. Will get my Martiniologist to provide some feedback. |

Then I switched to Vodka Grapefruit
The not so happy days
Then I left the Grapefruit out

I'm not such a big Martini fan.
A well made Manhattan is good though. Or an Earthquake (equal parts of whiskey, gin, and Pernod). All good potent drinks that don't need little sun umbrellas. |

Never understand the point of martini. If you want some strong drink, just get the vodka straight. Otherwise get some beer. What's the point of puffing it up with fruit juices etc?
Fussy! |

Whore's Martini:
-3 or 4 ounces overpriced vodka
-dash of the nasty-but-wonderful liquid from the anchovy-stuffed-olive container.
Shake hard (it is a whore, remember) over ice and pour into chilled glass.
Garnish with large green olive stuffed with anchovy.
Drink and pay up. |

For a truly happy martini...prepare some home-infused cannabis vodka (easily done with numerous recipes available on-line) and mix according to taste. |

Fiddler, do you remember the Vodka Bar in Hong Kong? Situated just off Hollywood Road in Central. They served any kind of vodka you wanted. Fantastic bloody mary's there from what I recall. Anyway, a barman there assured me that you can make cannabis vodka. We should market one and call it 'Absolutly Fuct'. |

It's really easy to make. Just wrap a certain amount (depending on what derivative your using) in muslin cloth and leave to soak for anything from 24 hours to a week - the alcohol does the hard work of extracting the good stuff.
Then mix 9 parts vodka to one part creme de cacao and party on. |

I thought that was a horrible Bond movie. That guy was worse than Roger Moore. Gordon's gin is actually very cheap low quality gin.
Did you know that Martinis were always stirred and not shaken, until James Bond said "Shaken not stirred?"
I have bartending experience and I will tell you this, when you stir a martini lightly for half a second, then pour it over a martini glass that just has remnents of vermouth. What I mean is you pour the vermouth in the glass then dump it, just to get the aroma of it. When you make a martini like this, it is twice as strong and flavorfull. Shaking a martini dilutes it. Don't believe me? Try this:
Take a very cold martini glass. Pour vermouth in it. Swirl it around then dump it out. Don't worry, Vermouth is cheap. Then take a glass and a long spoon. Fill it with ice then pour 1 3/4 shot of high quality gin in the glass. Take the spoon and simply make a half circle. Just to get the drink chilled. Then pour with a strainer in your vermouth coated glass. Add 3 olives. I guarantee that will be the bet martini you've ever had. Frank Sinatra's bartender taught me that.[/b] |
