Post subject: Is it difficult for Singaporean to find jobs in Shanghai?

I am thinking of finding a job in Shanghai. Is it difficult? What kind of salary can I expect from my employer?

Anyway, I am flying to Shanghai this friday and enjoy my national day here. Any Singaporean gathering for this weekend? I really like to meet my fellow countrymen in Shanghai.

hey thanks for your advice julian. And also which part of shanghai stay? I am a bit low on budget and where should I be looking from, web-site or agents? I hope that singaporean in shanghai are united and create more chances for people from singapore to come to shanghai if they want. Maybe a Singaporean Club? How about the parties over here? Better than Singapore? Girls? Sorry that I have so much questions..........

Hi,

We are having a Sinagpore National Day Buffet at Jack's Place Nanjing Xi Lu branch. There will be other Singaporean there. We are welcome to join us.

First stop for Singaporean new in town. As for accomodation, there are Motel 168 and their price are reasonable. There are a few outlets and one in Pudong.

Hi Freeman, if you are here for more than a month. than it would be better for you to rent an apartment, more economical. Cheaper rental ranges from 1k to 1.5k(very normal apartment), with Pudong bein cheaper. The transportation in Shanghai is ok, though not as ood as Sinapore(Of course), but you have to remember that Shanghai is so big that even with smooth traffic, it would take a while to get from one place to another.

As for jobs, I guess it really depends on how relevant your experiences are, as it is not easy getting a job pays Sin1.5 to 2k, unless it is a MNC. It is not that hard either, but you would start well to network with the fellow Sinaporeans at Jacks place on National Day. See you there.

An off-topic question........

Can anyone tell me how many Singaporeans are there now living in Shanghai and what are their occupations generally? Are there Singaporean business people or small-time entrepreneurs in Shanghai and if afffirmative, what type of businesses are they generally in?

Thanks

Thanks Anthony and Julian. When and what time is the buffet start? I will be there for sure to meet you guys.

And as for lemongrass, you ask a good question. You just want to earn the different exchange and bring it back to China when you get enough. As for me, I just want to spend...haha...I mean I just want to live decent and find my experience in China.

You ever think or ask a laowai from other country why they want to come China to teach English?

Most likely, you never... And you might think that foreign MOON is better...haha

Maybe I am a fellow chinese that why you ask me this question, right? Are you proud of being a chinese in a super power country?

Anyway, I heard that Shanghai girls love laowai, right? I AM ALSO 1/2 LAOWAI.....hhhhhhhhhhh

Jack's Place at 996, Level 3, Nanjing Xi Lu, next to Isetan, West Mall S/C.
By Train use line 2, at Shi Man Yi Lu station, exit 1.
cross the road and wait toward Isetan. You then come across it.
Time is 6.30pm till 9.30pm Tuesday 9 August 2005.

To D2R2

Check out the Shanghai Singapore Business Association, they have a new directory out soon. It list all the companies plus members who work for Singapore Companies.

They are on the web.

Thanks Anthony.

Like to touch base with Singaporeans in Shanghai just for old time sake. Understand from the Chinese authority that there are about 3,000 Singaporeans now working in Shanghai.

From a long lost Droid of Singapore now in HK.

wakkO, where did you get the number from?

Just to qualify my statement, the figure of 3000 Singaporeans was quoted to me by a top official in the Shanghai government on December 2003.

Freeman you sound like a 3 y/o crying baby whose age of brain fails to take a single joke. I just posted something which has nothing to do with any offence while you came up with bunch of craps about my motive for working overseas and even Shanghai girls-love-laowai bullshiat...

Does what you pointed to me make any sense? NO. Who the hell are you to judge me by knowing I am a Chinese? The benifit from working overseas or studying overseas depend on individuals. Some for learning different experience, some for earning more money, some for fun...But I am not going to tell you what I am going after coz that is irrelevant.

Shanghai girls love laowai? Surely certain fancy-laowai clubs out there are crazy about all foreigners coming to shanghai. Forfunately I have enough sanity not to label people with nationality. I like people because they are who they are, not because he/she is white or Asian. It is just you who is too stupid to get yourself out of a world of RACE. How sad it is!!!

ok lets get back to your first post. No matter whether or not you could take it, I have a sincere advice for you. "Dont come to Shanghai or any other places in China." A loser like you would definitely fail to find how amazing shanghai is and I can predict your future here would be a poor biatch-whiner complaining all the time. We already have enough whiners here so dont join in the team for your own sake.

And no need to thank me for my valuable suggestion. I am willing to help the disabled from time to time, which means I do this for you for free.

Now stay at your nest thinking about my words carefully. That does good to you, cryingMAN.

oh my god, it sound like my little dragon girl is mad about me. To be frank, it sound like I might be right about my comment. NO NEED to defend yourself.

I have been in china for many times and the true is out there. Even the policeman give respect to laowai when we speak english to them. I am truly sad why chinese look down on chinese.

As for your reasons to come to Singapore, pls dont. I dont want to see you end up in geylang streets and i start to bargain the pricing with u.

There are too many chinese girls in Singapore already and some are from villages and some are just like you. And they are working in expensive KTV and normally I give them a good price for their GOOD service.

I see too much already. I know a lot of china girls in Singapore. maybe more than 10... some are from shanghai also. So stop giving me reasons. It is your choice.

As for your advice to me, dont worry... I might buy a BMW to drive you around if you are still in Shanghai.

If you are interested of coming to Singapore, I can afford to provide you housing and food and drive you around or send you to WORK at night...Give me your contact number...If you are pretty.

man... I am not that rich, but I can afford you. AGREE?

ALL brother out there... Cheers....................................

Aha lets see what our crying baby is showing us another excellent post which connecting me with a KTV girl. Oh I havent realized that you are such a sophisticated successful decent guy who-knows-all about Chinese girls, especially those ones supplying GOOD service for you in Singapore. Too sad some people have to please you for the sake of money regardless of a fact that you are just a piece of racist cheese on this planet.

I am not interested in playing a fight-fight back-fight-fight back game with a narrow-minded puppet like you. And I dont have to win every single arguement on the website, or it still sounds like an arguement. Definitely you are unable to come up with any wise comments (or do you happen to know what "wise" means?), so I will leave you alone in your ivory tower and pls have a good time as much as possible, or keep dreaming you will be surrounded by groups of Chinese girls when standing in front of Plaza 66 with your BMW.

Welcome to China, my dear Singaporean VIP!!!

Happy Birthday Singapore!

You are older on 9 August and hopefully wiser and humbler too.
