| Post subject: El Cubano |
Just got back from a most excellent night at El Cubano. Had to ditch the Blue Frog first night, which was full of downtown socialites and not for me (sorry BF, another evening, I will stay!) and headed off to Pedro's place on Hong Mei. Welcomed like long lost family and herded upstairs where we were promised a night of Brazilian Samba. Two for one specials on the new drink of the day (forgot the name, sorry sponsors) and excellent friendly service (as always)
Brazilian Samba band and dancers were a lot of fun, they got the whole upstairs room swinging and dancing and all in all it felt like a wicked party.
Can't recommend this place highly enough, I think it is unique in Shanghai. Both Pedro and David work hard to make everyone feel welcome, without ever seeming to work too hard, if you know what I mean.
There is another Brazilian Samba night next saturday, and it's worth the trip if you fancy a fun night out with real people and good drinks |

Well given how awful their Mojitos were I won't be rushing back there. |

I have to admit that the Mojito's have lost a certain something. When we were first going there, they were excellent - now I suspect that they are pre-made. But they're not 'awful' just....could do better.
Actually, if you need them made differently, I'm sure you could ask the guys there. |

Food is not great but OK. Worth going once in a while to get sometime a bit different.
I put some comments in the Margarita thread.
The Mojitos are awful. If they have no mint taste besides the mint sprig garnish then they are not a Mojito. It then seems awful to sell them as a Mojito. |

That place was hopping on Friday night when I walked out of Lindo. Might have to give it a try next weekend. |
