The most important thing to rememebr is tat no matter how you travel and where you travel, each trip will bring new challenges, disappointments and pleasures. I have flown on a variety of Chinese based airlines within CHina, and I can honestly say I have experienced all of them.
One flight I took from Beijing to Shanghai had no A/C for the entire flight. And we all felt like busting open a window just to let some fresh air in. Another flight I took with the same airline was sheer heaven. Great attention and service and the food was FAB.
I frequently travel between BJ and SH on the fast trains (the "Z" trains) and I can honetly say that they are brilliant. The only downsides are that some passengers (usually the Chinese businessmen) like to stay up all night and chat and try to develop new relationships with other travelling businessmen. They have little consideration for others during the journey.
Other people feel that they are able to smoke in the sleeping compartments purely based on the fact that they spend 500yuan for the journey. This problem occurred to me not long ago, and myself and two other passengers in the compartment made it clear to this gentleman, that it was not acceptable and also against the rules. You refused to yield at firts, but a strategically placed glass of water on his cigarette packet (placed there by one of the Chinese laides) when he was not in the room worked wonders.
China Eastern have given me great service more times than the other airlines, but their prices may be higher on certain routes. You need to check that out beforehand.
China gives a wide array of experiences and memories. Search around, learn by experience and ask some of the very helpful foreigners in this country.
All the very best. |
