| Post subject: suggestions, please.... |
i would love it if people would give me some suggestions on some good music to download. i know i could look to see what people are listening to in sirfiddler's thread, but i don't know if they actually like or enjoy it.
doesn't really matter what it is. if i don't like it, i can simply delete it. but so often i sit there wondering "what now". not fun.
please help.
i am being serious.
thanks!!! |

well- what sort of mood are you looking for-,
i quite like mellow chilled out music so morcheba, zero 7, massive attack, kruder and dorfmeister, royksopp
for party moods- perhaps felix da housecat, basement jaxx and danny tenaglia
what sort of stuff do you like at the moment? |

Magnolia, don't know what you're into but I'd recommend Nina Simone's greatest hits album. I got it myself over the weekend. If you don't want the the whole album, get something like "Feeling Good" + "My baby just cares for me". Jazzy, soulful, mellow, oldschool and classy.
New music is rank, IMO. |

tell us what kind of music you want to listen to. I just downloaded a load of Simon and Garfunkel which you might hate! So i don't know!
If you want something mellow and melodious and a bit coldplay like check out Damien Rice (just beautiful), James Blunt, Patrick Park. That's what I've been listening to recently. I also downloaded a load of David Bowie because I realised that I don't have nay of his stuff! |

Try the London band "The Servant" tracks Cells, Liquify and Orchestra.
"Athlete" track Wires.
For oldies try Chris Rea track Square Peg, Round Hole.
For something completely different try anything by "Altan" Gaelic band popular amongst us Highlanders. |

Dearest Magnolia,
heh heh, ok, what about David Gray? I have his album "White Ladder". That one was released in 1998/1999 and I bought it in 2000. It's one of my favourite records. Brings back the good ol memories of my time in London. Maybe you would like to try that one. Oh, he has released other albums as well, go to www.davidgray.com for more info about this man.
Another one is Michael Buble, you might know him. I don't know if this is your type of music, but I do like it.
Some (new) Jazz artists I really like are Katie Melua, Jamie Cullum and Diana Krall. I'd recommend them all if you are into (new) Jazz.
Maybe you can tell me what kind of music you like and I can see what artists I like in those specific genres. I have a lot of music on my notebook, I'll share |

Magnolia, instead of downloading mp3s, try Pandora http://www.pandora.com It doesn't always play the kind of music that I like but the idea and technology is cool. It would mean playing from your PC so wouldn't really be useful when you just want to lay back on the couch & listen to the HiFi but then again still worth a try |

so tonight, i'll recommend three davids for you, Magnolia :
David Benoit - piano
David Koz - sax
David Gates - guitar
likely it'll be back to Craig David in the morning..... |

Mag, I'll email you a few songs of different kinds I like. I think I still got your email address somewhere. This way you don't even have to download. Let me know which kind you like, and I can email you some more. I brought 2 large hard drive with me from the States. So I got it all, mp3s, movies, porn pics, and of course tons of TV shows. |

CocoRosie (delighful voices with excellent strange music)
Daft Punk - Discovery (French touch)
Emiliana Torrini - Fisherman's Woman (delicious lyrics on nice partitions)
Africanism III mixed by Bob Sinclar (nice house mix with african root spirit)
Sean Paul - The Trinity (ragga bass with good riddim)
Tali - Lyric On My Lip (Drum'n'Bass from UK with an excellent MC) |

Whoops Mag,
I didn't have your email address, it was just Ed's. I only had your phone number. Oh Well, I'll send it to your mobile when I come in tower range. |

Try downloading some Opie & Anthony broadcasts as a change of pace if you don't want to listen to music. Always entertaining.
For more comedy, try Dane Cook or Eddie Izzard. |

If you want some light-hearted rock, go with Bowling for Soup.
On a more serious tone, Splender.
Try some Goo Goo Dolls (Black Balloon, Iris, Name, Big Machine, Naked) They got heaps of great songs...
Howie Day is pretty good (esp Collide)
Easy listening, try DJ Sammy's new album (The Rise)... |

I downloaded each and every suggestion (it took hours and hours... if someone new, then I would download a few songs and if I liked them, would download more)... and a big THANK YOU! I have to say that there wasn't one suggestion that I didn't like!!!!!! Over 200 songs in all.
If you think of any more, please just let me know!!! |

Try Michael Buble's "Home", my current favorite!
I used to have WinMX but not so happy with its speed. Currently using LimeWire - paid about 25 bucks for lifetime membership, works pretty great for me. |

I'd recommend some oldies...
-"Money" by Pink Floyd
-"Opportunities (Let's make lots of money)" by Petshop Boys
-"The Ecstasy of Gold" by Ennio Morricone for the Soundtrack of "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly"
Ok, I know they are all "money songs" but they are really good to listen to when you have none (like now for me for example).
Oh and almost anything from Ennio Morricone and/or Philip Glass are worth getting for those particularly moody days. |
