Post subject: You gotta go see this

My husband and I went to see this circus show, ERA, at Shanghai Circus World this week. I didn't have much exp[ectation at first, but the show turned out to be really impressive and entertaining. Just that part of 8 motorcycles all running inside a globe-shaped cage worths every penny of the ticket price.

Two words: great show!

ERA ----Intersection of Time
The Multimedia Theatrical Spectacular

A fancy extravaganza ~{!0~}Era~{!1~} may well be the most lavish and high tech show in the history of Chinese theatre.

Co-produced by Shanghai Media Group, China Arts and Entertainment Group and Shanghai Circus World, ~{!0~}Era~{!1~}, the multimedia theatrical spectacular premiered in Shanghai Circus World on September 27 th , 2005 .

~{!0~}Era~{!1~} is enlightened by the fact that China has entered into a new era of fast development spanning over the thousand-year history. ~{!0~}Era~{!1~} attempts to redefine the Chinese formula of acrobatics and performing arts, blending high technology with traditional acrobatic arts through the employment of multimedia in this innovative circus show. The show tells of a fascinating and thought-provoking story with a journey of ~{!0~}past~{!1~}, ~{!0~}present~{!1~}and ~{!0~}future~{!1~}.

Stunning! Breathtaking! Fascinating! The world top acrobats will bring to the people extreme enjoyment in a modern high tech performance environment. Throughout the performance, a great number of sophisticated multimedia techniques and high quality projectors are being used to make it possible for the audience to experience a journey of space and time, tracing back to the ancient time or taking us to the time of ~{!0~}future~{!1~}.

The continuous original music will be played live by the orchestra throughout the performance. Technical support by using the precision aerial installments, the human body cannon and flying devises, as well as the concealed combination of belt acrobatics and trampolines will enable this world class show to be staged in the innovated 3D space from a brand new angle.

The audience will be subject to the stimulation of vision, wind, smoke, surrounding sound and effect of light or no light~{!-!-~}, making them become a show participant instead of a show spectator.

We went there on a Tuesday, so only 1/10 of the seats were occupied. The show started at 7:30pm and ended at around 9:30pm with 15 mins of intermission.

The ticket prices are in RMB: 80, 180, 280, 380, and 580. We got the RMB280 tickets. My husband and I both were glad that we didn't buy the VIP/ expensive tickets because their seats are too close to the stage. Also, there is one scene where the motocycles rided in the audience seating area. They passed by right in front of our seats!
