Post subject: Sending my cat back to the USA

Has anyone sent a cat home to the USA? I'm trying to find out how to take my cat back with me but I haven't found a resource online with the details, including the cost.
I got a quote from an animal relocation company for $1,800. Surely that's too high? Help please! Thanks so much!

China Post will do it for about 180rmb if you can find a small enough box. Please don't forget to provide enough food and water for at least 3 months travel.

Har, BaoLe!

Thebren: So you are traveling as well? In addition to checking with a good vet in the city, look at United Airlines website or another airline who permits in-cabin pet travel. That's the only way to go these days.

We brought our kitty in the cabin with us and he (and we) survived a-ok. A vet did prescribe some gentle tranquilizers which I gave (quarter tab at a time) to Skippy every 4 hours or so. Find a soft sided cat carrier and buy some diapers and change them as needed. Of course, the diapers are to be used on the floor of the inside of the carrier not on your kitty.
