| Post subject: Golf club quality |
I have two sets of golf clubs that I bought here, one for 1400 one for 1200. Both seem to be excellent quality and play really well. But I'm 100+ golfer, so I certainly wouldn't be able to tell.
I just bought a set of Ping G5s and so far they are great. (Spare me the moral lesson. Fake clubs are the best thing to happen to the golf manufacturers for their future in China. Their brands are famous now, golf is affordable and rapidly spreading, and some day, people will be forced to buy real clubs. Without affordable clubs, golf would be dead in the water in China.)
I have two queries for anyone who knows what they are talking about:
1) What's the difference between the real and fake ones? I have heard that some are made in the same factory, but with slightly different materials (e.g. less titanium). But I have also heard that only a real pro could tell or be affected by the difference. Has anyone played with fakes and had a problem?
2) Are there high and low quality fakes? In the more expensive stores, e.g. the ones that charge 1800 instead of of 1200, they give me some line about how they are higher quality. I don't buy it, but who knows. I suppose it's feasible there are many different factories. I've heard some are made in Taiwan and some are made in China, but that was from a Taiwanese who probably just got suckered into a worthless "upgrade" (as Taiwanese are wont to do). They haven't been able to show me a difference. If there are differences, how can I tell?
Thanks. |

My wife plays golf and I play from time to time.
Some of the fakes are actually made in companies who supply castings to the aircraft industry here. If they can cast titanium aircraft parts then they can cast the head of a club.
The main areas where the fakes differ is in finish quality and reliability. The mating of the shaft to the club can be weak, leading to the head breaking after a period of time. The grips are often poor quality rubber as are the shafts.
Mechanically the golf club takes a hell of a pounding so good assembly and good quality adhesives are important. |

Depending the quality of the copy you can lose distance (from 20 to 40 yards) and accuracy. But if you are just a casual golfer a copy are fine. If you are serius to compite against your self then buy good ones!
BTW I have a set of real Mizuno Globaltist. Anyone Interested? If you send me a PM |
