Post subject: Memory Foam Mattresses?

How much are memory foam mattresses in Shanghai? I slept on a bed that was half tempurpedic one night, and the experience was absolutely heavenly. I'd imagine the mattresses are cheaper in China, seeing as though so much manufacturing is done there.

I don't know about the mattresses, but they sell memory foam pillows at the carrefour. Price is about 160Y, which isn't necessarily a savings. A froogle search turns up Tempurpedic pillows for about 125 U$, but there are knock-offs for anywhere as low as 15$. I'm not sure if there's a difference in the materials or not.

Try the Orintal Shopping Mall in Xu Jia Hui. They had a promotional display there this past week. I brought mine with me from the US and it makes sleeping on the Chinese hard beds so much better.

The real Tempurpedic mattresses are more expensive in China. You can find them at most big department stores and some specialty furniture malls. Unfortunately, I don't know the names/addresses of the stores. I would recommend buying it in China if you want a real one.

Be sure not to get a fake one. For a material to have memory and longevity requires not only the right material in the beginning of the manufacturing process but a very well defined and controlled manufacturing process (chemically), it's not something that can be copied, just like the coat and jacket 'copiers' out here can not copy "thinsulate" for their knock-off jackets.

Oopss. I meant to say that I would recommend buying it in the US as they're much more expensive in China.
