Yes, it's counter no. 2 or 3. It's specified that it's an English speaking service counter.

I suggest anyone buying train tickets do not queue at the ticket counters. The situation there is chaotic and china at its worst.... cutting queues and rudeness in your face. Taking your time to enquire about schedules and everything about the train service, will not be possible.

Best is to book the seats in advance at the designated areas around town or hotels.

You have been warned.

What I would like to ask oddpig is..... would i experience the same chaotic-ness if using the 'Shanghai Sightseeing Bus Center' service? Are there different classes/categories for the bus service or are we just going to squeeze in with all the village folks or 'street folks'?

it will not be as chaotic as in the train station. but as the New Year is coming, tickets will be more difficult to get, so you'd better book it in advance. you may book the tickets a week beforehand at the different departure yards or Shanghai Meiya Audio Video chain stores or buy tickets on the day. if you had questions about the ticket booking ,you can call 021-64265555 to inquire.

here are some other bus company for your reference:
China International Travel Service Shanghai Tourist Automobile Service Company No. 10 Lane 45 Wuzhong Road 64088589 64082175
Shanghai China Travel Bus Company 52 Shenjiazhai Longhua Road (W) 64684118 64392073 64682780
but i think Shanghai Sightseeing Bus Center may be reliable.
and the following is some address of different departure yards:
Shanghai Sightseeing Bus Center (Shanghai Stadium Station) 666 Tianyaoqiao Road (Under No.5 Ladder) 64265555 64265554
Shanghai Sightseeing Bus Center (Hongkou Station) 444 East Jiangwan Rd. (Gate 2 Hongkou Football Field)
56963248 56666347
Shanghai Sightseeing Bus Center (Yangpu Station) 640 Longchang Rd. (Shanghai Yangpu Stadium)
65803210
Shanghai Sightseeing Bus Center (Huangpu Departure Yard) 1588 Waima Rd. (The west end of Nanpu Bridge)
63785559
Shanghai Sightseeing Bus Center (Zha Bei Departure Yard) 2266 Gonghexin Rd. (Shanghai Circus World)
56659121

I think I will pass on the bus service... dun think they have different categories or classes. I'm little suspicious about the kind of people that would make use of the buses... can't imagine being trapped in the same bus for hours... similar to the train.

Oddpig, do u know of any local service which do private van tours to nearby towns (within 2 or 3 hours)? I've heard such from friends but so far, they can't seem to deliver the necessary info confused (all talk no action). They seem like cheap all-in with hotel and full-time driver with good knowledge of the destination and sights.

Oddpig, another question which has been mentioned few times in other threads.

Don't the locals here use anti-perspirants (for armpits) or shoe deodorants? If yes, where can I get them? Not the import ones though, cos they are expensive... I've seen a few here and there.

Hi Oddpig,
Can you tell me where to buy a nice kite? Not the cheap plastic kind that you get at the parks, but rather a large sturdy kite made from fabric or paper.
