There was a bit on this in todays Shanghai Daily. They added that 22,000 officials were being investigated in November. That works out at over 733 officials per day, or 30 per hour. 22,000 people is the then many small town populations outside China and $36B is bigger than many countries economies.

Other figures in the report stated that the China Banking Regulatory Commision had uncovered 'irregularities' in RMB588B worth of loans and other funds and that 788 people in the big 4 bancks had been punished. That $71B.

Thats enough RMB to cove an area of over 690Km2 or done in 100RMB notes or enough notes to make a line 910,000 km long.
