Post subject: getting tourist visa in HK airport with one way ticket

Hey guys, I have a few questions regarding getting a tourist visa at the HK airport.

A quick background summary, I am flying out of Shanghai to LAX on the 8th. However, I am currently in Taipei, and I have no way of picking up my ticket from china eastern until i reach Shanghai. Therefore, so far, all i have is the tickets for Taiwan to Hong Kong and Hong Kong to Shanghai. I currently hold a US passport and I'll fly to HK on the 4th.

Question/Problems:

One, I have to get my visa the same day as I arrive in HK, since I leave HK for Shanghai on the same day that I arrive in HK. And I heard you can get the visa done (apply and receive) at the CTS branch in the HK airport. If not, is there any other travel agency within the HK airport that I can apply for a Chinese tourist visa and get it on the same day?

Two, will there be any problem for me applying for a Chinese Tourist visa if i only hold a one way ticket to china and no return ticket?

Three, are there any other things that i should look out for while applying for a Visa within HK?

Thanks for any help!

another question of the top of my mind ...

Where is the CTS counter located within the HK airport?
Would I have to go through the customs or is it located within the arrival/waiting areas.
