| Post subject: Hard beds!!? |
How do people sleep on the ridiculously hard mattresses common throughout Shanghai? When I initially visited Shanghai in late August, I couldn't sleep a wink on the motel beds, and even after a month here, I'm having a tough time adjusting to the hardness of my current mattress. Has anyone had any luck buying a mattress pad (I'm looking for a memory foam model)? |

Not a memory foam, but I did find a pretty decent eggshell and in the winter time use one of the AU wool mattress pads. Works wonders! |

you can get a a western queen sized mattress at ikea for around 1200 rmb. just use your current one as box springs. |

Or you can use a down comforter as a base "feather bed". Strangely I like the firm beds and it has done wonders for my back. Maybe i am just getting OLD. my Aussie clients came out and despite their initial aversion to the beds, after a week they ordered a set to ship back with them. Of course the firmbeds were topped with some foam-like top so it really was good for the back. 
Bought a Local model matress set from the local manufacturer of Serta beds. around 3000 for a matress/box set. Well worth it to me. |
