The Other Bollyn Girl with Scarlette Johnsson, Natalie Portman and Kristin Scott Thomas in there. Very good movie with close actions and English flavor.

"Straw Dogs"

Impossible to watch without cringing. All the men are bullies or bullied, including the unlikable protagonist played by Dustin Hoffman, who's a bit of both. Although director Peckinpah was excoriated for depicting Susan George as a sex-kitten and a dim bulb, hers is the only character that has the backbone to call the men out for their macho posturing - and she pays for it by being raped. When Hoffman finally finds the cahones to defend his home against an armed attack, the carnage he inflicts more than satisfies the blood-lust that's been so artfully brought to a slow boil, but it's nowhere near as disturbing as the many small acts of menace that preceded it.

Batman - The Dark Knight... I thought it was great and leads nicely into a third Batman movie (hopefully with Christian Bale as Batman again)... Quite dark and Heath Ledger was brilliant as the joker.

A friend and I were discussing Christian Bale after seeing the Dark Knight tonight and we realised that he played the British boy in Empire of the Sun. Wonderful actor... can't wait to see American Psycho...
