Anybody can comment about the Enjoy Shanghai card (http://www.enjoyshanghai.com/default_2005.asp) ? Does it really work? Are there any similar cards and if so how do they compare?

I bought one last year and have used it enough to get my money back so will buy it again. My problem is that I forget to bring the coupons with me - but the card alone is good for a discount at many places. |

Enjoy is a pretty good service... like tnmom, i always forget to bring the coupons with me so don't take advantage of that aspect as much as can be done; but a good number of places offer a standard discount with just the card. Think it expires in April or May so probably not worth getting one until the new one is issued unless you frequent the places that are connected to the card and can utilize it enough to make up the difference of the cost.
A few years back, Sherpas gave them out for free, which was cool. |

Unless you will go out alot in the next month or so, I would consider waiting until the new book comes out. usually scheduled in april or so. ShanghaiExpat worked with EnjoyShanghai for the 2005-6 book and may do so again, so stay tuned. it may give you extra ShanghaiExpat goodies in addition to the book. 
The Enjoy Shanghai book and card has been WELL WORTH the investmet. My first Coupon use paid for the card/book witha a free bottle of 300rmb wine. Since then I have saved thousands of rmb, at least 1200rmb worth of savings at our favorite hang out Senses alone! (the 50% off coupon was a nice touch!) 2 for 1 meals and other benefits have been fantastic, AND it has made me go try new places I otherwise would not have found or gone to so its been fun. Looking forward to the new book in a couple of months too! |

I always forget to use the coupons. Only used one or two so far. Must get down to Senses sometime and use that 50% off one though.
But it is good in getting you to some places you wouldn't otherwise try. I've been to a few places on the strength of them being included in the thing. |
