| Post subject: Furnished vs Unfurnished Villa |
We are relocating from Hong Kong.
We have some of our furniture that we want to bring (burmese and Korean antiques) and possible dining rm set, couch, a few beds. As the company is shouldering the cost...I am less concerned about the cost.
Questions: What is there a price differential between a furnished or unfurnished villa?
Would there be problems with decining SOME of the furniture in an furnished place?
I don't think I have enough furniture to fit out a 4bdrm villa and yet, not keen on any of the furniture (that I've seenn in photos). Would it make more sense to get an unfurnished one if the price is right and negotiate for a furniture allowance? (pick up some inexpensive IKEA and some other more expensive ones?) |

depends on the owner of the villa. some don't mind removing unwanted furniture, others will tell you that it's up to you to find a storage place (note... there are not many climate controlled storage units here) and return the unused furniture at the end of the lease. best bet is to find a place where the landlord is flexible because it will save you frustration. |

I choose a house that was unfurnished, because I as you were not keen on many of the furniture that are normal here. I am very happy with my decision, first of all because I know that I got the villa A LOT cheaper and second of all because I now can design and decorate everything as it pleases me!!! But of course it also requires more time and knowing different good places to buy the furniture... |
