| Post subject: Engagement rings in Shanghai?? |
(Figuring that a trip to Hong Kong is not an option!), what is some good advice for someone ring shopping in Shanghai? Has anyone gone through this process and been happy with their experience? I've visited a number of shops, and let's just say it has not been an enjoyable experience. Nicest I've seen so far is Hiersun at Citic on Nanjing - but I don't feel like overpaying to join their 'VIP club.' I'm looking for a reputable shop that I can leave with the peace of mind I didn't pay twice as much as I should or could have. |

well i bought 2 PT rings, that as a set were heavily reduced from the original prices, we confirmed that the diamonds were real, not fakes... the weight of the rings and diamonds, worked out at competitive prices given the world price for PT & diamonds at the time, we shopped around and compared other stores and what was on offer... all in all the service was good, no pressure, and the questions we had were answered adequately... by all stores we shopped around in.
though it wasnt SH we shopped in... we were in Changhzhou, and had a good experience ourselves -low key, no pressure... we have had good experiences in SH also, though it just means rolling with the punches and the differences in the shopping expereinces.
also we got the certificates or authenticity issued by the government bureau |

Not sure wat u mean by un-enjoyable experience.... did they mistreat you or try to cut your throat?
After all, diamonds and gold have a market price..... and come with certificates of authencity. Go for the internationally certified diamonds eg. Lazare or GIA, etc..
What kind of specs are you looking at (4 C's)? For 1 carat, VS1 clarity, D to I color, internationally certified diamond ..... about RMB50k. If going for brand eg. Tiffany, expect to pay more like RMB70k. If locally or shop certified, probably RMB30+k.
So... your choice |

Thanks for the responses so far - especially yours shanghaiceltic - duly noted.. However, what I'm hoping for is that someone has a specific place in Shanghai to recommend. |
