Rio, by the sound of your attitude, you must work as a dishwasher. All she asked for was some help, not some wise-ass comment. |

Have a look in the archives here - particularly there was one thread about salary expectations which was a pretty in depth discussion about employment here. Basically, get a job in the UK to be located here. Otherwise, in my experience, no chance... |

ok... some more constructive advise... i am actually in banking.
Banking is very, very difficult to get into without relevant experience. It is possible to get a job in banking in China if you have experience in a field that is lacking in China (i have and lots of other bankers here have). Every young grad in China wants to work in a bank, as pay is better. Even the lack of Chinese can be forgiven (if speak none), as most international banks have english as internal spoken and written language. But again you need to be a specific knowledge worker with relevant experience. Usually this knowledge is in a specific product or in back-office controls.
If you are a fresh grad then the only way I could see would be 1) get some experience in the city with a large international bank and make a move after 1 or 2 years or 2) get into some international traineeship or something, i know HSBC has one. But even the international trainees are usually people with one or two years of banking experience.
If you have work experience but in a different field, your options are very limited. Again go by a slow move into an international bank and make your case there. Many banks including mine will only hire people with at least 2yrs banking experience. Most starters start at local banks or at large international ones, citi, hsbc, stanchart. Sorry cannot make it easier for you. |

BTW the London job and banking market is booming at the moment... from an experience but also a salary point of view, it might be better to start your career there... China will also be there in a few years. |
